My Uncle Bert – Raccoons

https://i0.wp.com/farm5.static.flickr.com/4132/4987423292_50b5cfa7c9.jpg

I was sitting on the shitter last weekend, doing some of my best thinking when all of a sudden I heard some rustling over by my garage. I look out the window and I see a raccoon climbing up the side, looking for a way to get in. I run to my gun cabinet and grab my cross bow. I flip open the scope, get half my body out the window, get comfortable when all of a sudden I think to myself. Alright Bert, now you’ve gone too far here.

Prometheus International Trailer

Summer is just around the corner. I think The Avengers really kicks that off with the first blockbuster. But Prometheus is just around the corner too. If you’re as excited as me about Ridley Scotts new movie, then you’ll really love this final trailer. Not as epic as the last one, but they show a lot of goodies here.

Roberto Luongo Will Indeed be Traded

http://nalstradamus.files.wordpress.com/2011/10/lu.jpg

Just coming off the heels of the Boston Bruins being eliminated from the playoffs. It’s definitely been a wild ride this year for teams. Not only are the defending champs been put out, but Detroit (102 points), Pittsburgh (108 points) and Vancouver (111 points) have all been put out of the playoff race. 2012 has certainly turned into a true under dog year for NHL teams. Speaking of the Vancouver Canucks, Roberto Luongo has had a pretty nice ride throughout his years on the west coast. A great offensive team in front of him, a pretty tight defensive core, back to back President trophy champs and a trip to the Stanley Cup finals last year (not too shabby). So why are people so upset for all these great things the team has achieved with Luo has their goalie.

The thing that’s become pretty apparent is that after six years in a Canucks uniform, fans want change. I would say Luongo is still one of the 1/3 of great goaltenders in the NHL today. He’s done a lot for Vancouver…. he’s won a gold metal in the Vancouver Olympics for Canada and has an outstanding record of 224-115 record in a Canucks uniform. The apparent thing is that Luo hasn’t come up big for the team when they’ve needed him. Back-up Cory Schneider is going to be a RFA this summer and the team, “which was put out by the 8th seed LA Kings”, have a lot to think about on the direction of their club.

With big news coming out of Vancouver today, it seems that Luongo not only has said he’ll waive his no-trade clause, but will soon give the club his 5-team list he’ll take a trade to. The writing is on the wall, Luongo knows this and will graciously walk out of town before Canuck fans get their pitch forks and torches. So let’s play GM here and think of where Luo will land.

Tampa Bay Lightning – The team needs a number one goalie, bad. Probably the most out of anyone in the NHL. GM Steve Yzerman would have to make some room for his big contract, but I doubt that would be tough considering a goalie is probably their #1 acquisition this off season.

Toronto Maple Leafs – Another team looking to bolster the lineup in net. James Reimer was obviously hurt last year after getting hit in the head. Jonas Gustavsson days are numbered and if it isn’t Luo the Leafs will be after, then who?

New Jersey Devils – Say even if the devils get past the Panthers and live to see another round in the playoffs. Brodeur isn’t getting any younger. Even if he wants to play another year in the NHL, I doubt it will be in a devils uniform.

Chicago Blackhawks – Crawford has stepped up as their former back stop, but to carry this team as a number 1 goaltender, I’m not too sure about that. Chicago showed that picking up free agent Ray Emery to carry the reigns this season. They may want a more experienced goalie to carry this strong Blackhawk team in a playoff run next year.

Florida Panthers – Now I’m saying this because every online source is saying Florida is attached to Luo’s list, which makes sense on his end, but doesn’t at all on Florida’s end. Theodore is a huge bargain at $1.5 million a year and the team did exceptionally well this year with all their free agent signings. But, Luongo has been a Panther before and may want to accept a deal to his old stomping grounds.

Sombrero galaxy found to be a galaxy within a galaxy

Sombrero galaxy found to be a galaxy within a galaxy

Scientists always thought that the Sombrero galaxy was just an unusual hat-shaped spiral system. But recent images taken by the Spitzer Science Center at the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena show that it’s actually composed of two galaxies, one inside the other, similar to the emerald-cut galaxy discovered earlier this year.

In the infrared images of the Sombrero galaxy taken by the Spitzer Space Telescope, scientists saw that the brim-like outer part of the system is separate from the cap-like central disk part. It would be easy to think that the brim swallowed the rounded disk to form a single galaxy. But according to experts, the more probable scenario is that in its early days, the once elliptical galaxy fed on massive quantities of gas clouds that ended up in the center due to gravity. These gases started forming stars, and soon the central disk became indistinguishable from the rest of the galaxy.

This new finding gives astronomers a better understanding on how galaxies form and evolve. It also solves one of Sombrero galaxy’s greatest mysteries since it was discovered in 1767 — the number of its globular clusters or spherical groups of stars. Spiral galaxies, the classification in which the Sombrero galaxy falls under, typically only have a few hundred globular clusters; Sombrero, however, has 2,000.

???X-Men: First Class 2??? To Begin Production In January 2013

Michael Fassbender as Magneto
“Peace was never an option”

The sluggish start to a sequel for last years mega successful X-Men First Class has been at a relaxed state you could say. Matthew Vaughn and Bryan Singer have been signed for some time now. Every actor including Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy are contractually signed for a trilogy. And the script, (in whatever draft now), has been penned by Jane Goldman, Matthew Vaughn, and Simon Kingberg (Sherlock Holmes). So why keep this movie on the down low?

Well it appears they are stalled on the services of one Jennifer Lawrence. Fox has been motivated to get this thing rolling in the later half of 2012, but now that The Hunger Games has become incredibly popular. It has taken up Lawrences time to reprise her role as Mystique, and to keep a very strick release date of the Hunger Games sequel on November 22, 2013.

Fox included an option in her contract that would require the Oscar-nominee to appear in future installments, regardless of any potential scheduling conflicts that could arise. Hence, even though Lionsgate is planning on a late summer production start for the second installment in the Hunger Games franchise (which Lawrence, of course, headlines as teen warrior Katniss Everdeen), the actress would have been forced to pass over that sequel, Catching Fire, and instead appear in First Class 2 – if the latter were to have begun shooting around the same time as the next Hunger Games movie adaptation, that is.

I’m glad they are keeping the cast of X-Men together and are waiving their right to just re-cast her role as Mystique. It gives me confidence that an X-Men First Class sequel will be as great as the first one.

X-Men: First Class 2 is expected to reach U.S. theaters by Summer 2014
